Get ready..it's coming...GOC has new software which will be putting our aircraft as high as possible...MEM-OKC at FL400...my intel says we have a few pilots who think they can save the company money by uncapping the altitudes in the current system...(same guys who thought up the 290 descent)also we will be a Flag Carrier very soon...no alternates...fuel costs are now a top priority...expect less gas and higher altitudes as early as next month...the email from air-ops eludes to this as well...

ALPA surveyed the membership and 66% wanted more gas. However 62% said that if they had to take less gas, they would want ALPA to be involved in crafting the LOA. Also noted was that minisnacks would be removed because it was "the right thing to do."

Of course, it's always up to the PIC. I flew 6 years as a 121 Flag carrier with people (gasp!) in the back. Lots of times we didn't have an alternate. Places like DF/W, ATL, ORD, JFK, etc, etc... It's not that big of a deal. You look at the big picture and decide if you need extra gas. So simple a caveman can do it.
