FDX bid

If the bid closes before the law changes, with a long training cycle, does any one see a massive exodus of the Ropes?
I think most are back there up-ing their multiplier, but it will be interesting if the few wanting a window seat leave.

Next thing you know DW will want to fight the company on re-doing the bid to include the over the hill 60 crowd their participation ....all the while telling us its for OUR benefit

And remember, the only other seat in the jet that sits sideways ... FLUSHES!

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Here's a sad story of one of DW's constituents in today's USA Today. This is the type of guy that we're looking out for....

Don't take this the wrong way, but my hope was to make at least one thread that doesn't involve the age 60 dilema. Doesn't anyone have anything to add without a twist? I'm sure all the poolies are sitting on the edge of their seats trying to figure out what's going on, not to mention those waiting to get a foot in the door.

I think the bottom line is...No one really knows. I promise that I will post anything that I feel would be useful about a bid, though. When I hear it from a reliable source. Anything you read on here would be pure conjecture at this point.
Just like the age 60 thing!!
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I can buy the less than big bid theory.
--Transitioning to 2 man cockpits
--Newhires will backfill 727 SO and FO positions left behind by those upgrading.
--With the possibility of over 60 guys getting back up front, smaller is better. (But I never did understand the desire to have such big, infrequent bids)
But a 3 year bid that is not big?? How would you do that? I figure an 18 month bid if its not big.
The 3 year bid would be to keep the over 60 guys from upgrading? (Which I think would be wrong, BTW) Otherwise, what would be the sense in it?

I think a smaller bid makes sense with so many unknowns. The only downside to the company of multiple bids is guys who jump from seat to seat and spend more time in training. For example, a 27 SO might bid to the 757 FO spot, then to the 777 or MD11 slot on a bid 18 months later. A longer bid period might lead to the same guy still on the 777 or MD11 but without the interim stop on the 757 (and the assciated training costs).
