Well...I WANT my MEC guys well compensated. I want our best! I want guys who will WORK! Mgts favorite seed of dissention is pointing out union leader's salaries. Well paid doesn't mean untrustworthy.

I don't think their pay is the crux of this issue.

They need to communicate better, however. I think that message is getting through...

By the way it doesn't matter if they are right about influencing the outcome. They might be - the way they went around this makes them unfit to represent the majority. It's their actions here that matter. We don't have the luxury of waiting to see how each outcome turns out and then determine if they were right or not. I would much rather have a leadership that follows the majority on these huge decisions, be it right or wrong then goes with its gut feeling.

I did email him when this first came out and his response was "if he loses his job over this, then so be it." I think it might just be the answer.[/quote]

Amen brother. Better idea, let's disolve the dictatorship! Have DW and his group resign and run for re-election in 4 weeks. Kind of a vote of confidence thing. Up or down on their version of leadership. Bet there would be no shortage of people running this time. All you'd have to say is "I care what the members think" and it would be a landslide.
BTW, anybody notice Tony's absence? Where is the sage?

I'm in the wrong block, I've got a bad back, and I've got 27 horses to feed. I'm probably not your guy.
Why do I picture John Belushi facing an M-16 wielding Carrie Fisher in a sewer pipe beneath a retired blues venue?

Hope your back feels better.

Why can't the members stand up and vote on what WE want regarding age60? Why does it have to be jammed down our throats, when we're the ones that actually have to do the job. The FAA and Congress should be listening to ALPA, not making up some b.s. of ALPA better get onboard or else. I would think that the largest pilot union in the world might have a little larger voice.

My Co-star and I wore our lanyards backwards for our flight today and will until we see the MEC allow us more of a say on these and other issues. The all black lanyard now is our personal sign of mourning for the loss of our say in what happens in our union. If we can't have a real poll, maybe enough pilots doing the same will allow them to see how many are against this kind of exclusion from the very union we support and pay for with our dues. Just a thought..

Guys,

I truely think the issue about what the MEC officers makes is pure BS... Why do I care what they make and I have to say I think they deserve every penny of it. If anyone wants those dollars feel free to run and see if it's worth it. I would hate the job of trying to take care of 4400 differing opinions...

On the other hand this entire age 60 and allowing the retreads back into the front makes my blood boil, and yes, I have emailed my rep...

Lets stick to the important point - are OUR represenatives representing us? If not, it's time someone else finds out if the $200,000 to 750,000 dollars are worth it...

Makes the job a whole lot easier if you don't give a rat's a$$ about any opinion other than those fostered in your own ivory tower.
