Any extra pay for delays?

Nothing is scheduled on the 747 side, all ad-hoc. But you will definitely get to know the routing between HKG and ANC quite well. HKG and DXB (DWC for operating, DXB for deadheading, but we use the same hotel whether you are operating out of DWC or deadheading via DXB) are places you will almost always find crews. ANC is pretty common over the winter. JFK, ORD, and LGG are all pretty common stops as well, with HAN popping up a lot more recently. In the weeks leading up to Valentines Day and Mothers Day, flower runs to Columbia out of Miami are common as well. DoD is a big part of the operation, so you will see a lot of Air Force bases, as well as the occasional Navy and Marine corps bases, both Stateside and overseas.

Almost always a four person crew, no matter the duty time, unless a crew member calls out sick at the last minute. They want all crews to be legal for four man crew limits (up to 30 hours), and if you end up doing two or three person flying too often you will be restricted, so they do everything they can to keep it at four pilots at all times. As of yet, I have never flown with less than a four person crew.
OD, hotels at those locations are good? All those airports you listed are just a for quick refuel stop or for change crews and have a couple of hours/days of rest?

Regards,

Regards,
Hotels are generally good. But sometimes there are duds. IHG hotels is the preffered brand, with Marriott and Hilton seemingly 2 and 3. Hard to speak for all the crews, but it appears most are happy with the primary hotels in HKG, DXB, ANC, and ORD. The HAN and ICN hotels are very nice. Most tend to be just standard fare. JFK hotel is a good hotel, with a terrible location, which is normal for the area around JFK.

As far as how much time you get in each place, that is really a crapshoot. Sometimes you end up getting stuck for 30 hours in the middle of nowhere Saudi Arabia, sometimes you get min rest at a great hotel where you wish you could 30 hours.

I never said I have (nor had) any issues with any aussie pilot. Quite the contrary! I am very goog friends with all my former AJX colleagues. My point was about they tend to complain a lot and are always talking about moving on, and never seem to do so. It was responding to somebody suggesting there was an impending exudus. I heard that many times at AJX and it never materialized. I don't think it will happen here either.

Air Japan was a great place to work and a fantastic contract for a while. For what I hear from friends there is that is not the case now.

No! That's one of the major frustrations really. If the aircraft are running well and you get good utilization then you make decent money. But if you get stuck on AOG, then you end up falling to Min Guar.
