Default UPS Hiring (not really) Rumors

First - condonlences (sp?) to those in the UPS pool. I had no idea how fortunate I was to be put in to training quickly from the psych test. I have become aware that there are many itching for their chance - hang in there, apparently there is a plan for you...

The justification for the transoceanic/int'l qualifications among current applicants is that they are looking for folks with heavy, int'l experience to round out the skills in the cockpit of the MD11 in ANC. Both seats are going so junior up there that it's conceivable that neither pilot has done crossings before and they (ok, now we) are mitigating that risk as possible. i.e., a senior domestic 75 guy could be one of the new Capts. Apparently, they have enough regional/charter/fighter folks in the pool to satisfy the 75/6 hiring needs for the short term. Now for the juicier stuff...

The current app window will be closing in the first third of May . If you don't have an app in that has 2007 in the title (SO or FO is ok) you need to take some action. {Are you reading this MP in current ops?} Do what you can to get the quals or watch the seniority go by. Ok, that may not be that feasible for all.

There will be a need for folks that don't have the experience currently required to get your app in later this year. I take this to mean more 75/6 hiring forecasted and those in the pool should have had ample opportunity to be yanked out.

Source is internal UPS and I'd rather not post it.

Best of luck to all. I've learned lots from these boards and felt it was my turn to share what I have learned.

Congrats Beaker. I know it's been a long time coming for you. Are you going to ANC? BTW, how long from when you did the assessments to when you got a call? I did my assessments on 11 Apr and have yet to hear anything.

When did you put your application in? Were you in the Jan or Apr windows?

Thanks

I'm in the Apr window. Submitted app on 10 Apr and got the assessment emails on 11 Apr. I did them as soon as I got them but haven't heard anything yet. I'm assuming if I didn't make it through the assessment I would know relatively soon.
