UPS letters of rec

UPS letters of rec
Fellas,
I understand UPS doesn't want letters of rec brought to the interview. How are recs done? Is there some way for a current employee to put something online against your resume, ala FedEx, or what? None of my internal contacts know the answer (or at least they're not telling me - yikes!).
Also, has anyone heard when the compooter will spit out more names for interview? And what determines who gets the email for the online psych eval?
No, I haven't gotten a call - just want to be prepared in case. For now, I'm just another guy who says "active". Thanks a bunch.

Moose,
Having just done a on-line rec for a buddy I thought I would take a stab at answering your question. The on-line rec lives on the Airups'ers web site. Any pilot type can put in a rec, even a hew hire like myself. There are many questions to answer. So my advice would be to supply a list of bullets to your buddy so it can help him fill it out; also send your resume. Include things like when you flew together, deployed together, you know that kinda stuff.
The way I understand it every rec, just like the application process itself, is given a point value and enough points equals a call for an interview; hence the more, the better.
Now here is the million dollar question: What if I don't know anyone at the company? You don't have to know anyone to get a call for an interview, it helps don't get me wrong but its not necessary. I got called for and interview and was hired without a rec. I hope the info helps. Good luck to you and others like you out there.

Recs are done on line on one of our company websites. You can put a negative rec in for someone but there are about 15 essay questions you have to fill out in detail. IMO, I can't see anyone doing all the questions just to try to blackball someone but I could be wrong I guess. There is no list of interviewees where people could put bad comments or anything like that.
No clue about when the computer will spit out more names.
Who will get the on line assessment is anyone's guess. I have no clue.

I heard from PD at a job fair that a rec gives you one point and it doesn't even come into play anymore until you have an interview.

Thanks a bunch fellas. 5 guys I know have been called to interview since December, and not one of them has had a rec. As of now, sounds like it's not that big of a deal - but may become one sometime, which is why I ask. Thanks again.

It never hurts to have as many recs as you can. You never know when they will change their application system again and you need 10 recs. Know what I mean? Good luck!

Speaking of changing the app. system, I read on a previous post that there is talk of the trans-oceanic req. being dropped.
Anyone have any thoughts on this lately?
I asked this question to a brown uniform recently, just wondering if there is any new gouge or if anyone has heard anything.
Moose, apologize if I changed things up here a little early. I do appreciate the post, as I have 4 friends that will write up a rec. letter for me if I could just get my stuff in.
Thnx everyone.

FMI, HR rep taking care of our class the first few days did say that the next job posting will "probably" drop the oceanic requirement. I guess it really depends on how many heavy drivers they "pool" from this go-round and weather or not it will satisfy the ANC needs.
Good Luck
