Default NEW UPS ANC Rumor...

2 new ones actually....

UPS is going to suspend the awarded upgrades for ANC MD-11 captains through the summer. All pilots holding an award will be pay protected. Good deal for them. Bid as senior FO and get a good chedule while making captains bucks.

The rumored shift of flying from the Z domicile to ONT will NOT happen as has been rumored. No great benefit for the company to do so once the cost of airline tickets is factored in. Keep an eye out for an ANC Z domicile at some future time though. No time soon most likely

What's an ANC Z domicile mean? Will it be for the MD or 400? Why Z? As if the current pilots in ANC don't fly international? What would be the difference if they had an ANC MD11 and an ANC MD11z category?

By Z do you mean 75/76 base in ANC?

I know the 400 is labeled the Y domicile on some of the company stuff.

I just saw a presentation by Manpower Planning yesterday, and there was nothing spoken of this. He did mention training being maxed out through the end of the year on the MD11, but no mention of an ANC upgrade freeze. So if this rumor is true, it's in high-secret mode currently.

I don't think it means the 76/76. If anything you would see a Philly or even a MIA Z dom. open up.

F.D- I'll pm you with the source. As far as being at the manpower meeting yesterday and not hearing anything about it, didn't we have guys at the new equiptment briefing the day before the 767 was announced and they didn't say anything about that either <G>?

Since they can now use FO's as IRO's or FO's, they feel that they can get the most bang for their training buck by concentrating there.

Expect to see 180 probationary FO's in ANC pretty soon!!

31- that rumor is not from a totally official source. The ONT portion of it is, but the ANC portion is speculation. Yes, it would be for the 767. If you look at our bid package now you will see an incredible amount of trips that DH in and out of ANC, or through ANC to get to the pac rim. In the future we may see a -400 going from ANC-CRK with ten seats on it. That is enough to turn out 5 crews a day for pac rim service out of CRK

FO For life- Don't know about PHL although RQ, the head guy in PHL says not yet. He also says that rather than MIA Z, we might see a shifting of existing south america routes to the SDFZ. Keep the hard core special airports for the MIA crews and have Z crews do some of the other flying, which will even tie in to Europe.

So the 27 new order 767s would be at least partially for an ANC Z base? Would this affect the drawdown of any existing 767 bases, Z, ONT and MIA? Interesting times here at Brown. Also, any word on future a/c aquisitions, 747s or those elusive Air Canada 767s? Good rumors, keep 'em coming!

Who knows about the 27 planes. Just as likely that they are for domestic lift. Remember, we already have the 75 crews flying around Asia, it is just a matter of expediting them in and out.

Are the 400's legally allowed to have ten seats for ACM's? The classics are only allowed to have 8 folks total (3 crewmembers + 5 ACM's) for evac purposes. Talk about a cramped upper deck!

That limit is a function of escape doors and slides. I imagine that the vast majority of our fleet would be comorised of passenger conversions with the larger upper deck and the doors already in them.
