Those questions were cleverly worded. Sounds like ALPA is trying to get us to admit that change is inevitable and, since it is, we should allow ALPA to change thier stance so they can be part of the process. The rational response is, "well, sure, if it's going to happen at least get some representation in there, but I'd rather you not do it all." I would predict that ALPA will focus on the first part of that sentence rather than the last. The Age 62 questions were a little new, however.

Regardless of whether any of this Age 65 stuff works out for George, myself, or anyone else in the industry whose approaching age 60 (or has already turned 60), the reality of it is that IT IS COMING. Now you can either get on board and start planning for it, or you can sit by the side of the tracks as the train pulls out of the station. This will affect you. One way or the other. Like it or not, it's going to become reality. ALPA IS trying to become part of the solution, not, as you would have them, a part of the problem, by sticking their collective heads in the sand.
It appears that it gives you great satisfaction that some will not be able to take advantage of this when it changes, based on the fact that they've already turned 60. Will you feel that way when guys who are senior to you and also older than you reach age 60, after the age requirement has been changed to 65? If so, I'd suggest that it's going to be a long, drawn-out career for you. Good luck with it.
