So if someone has no transoceanic crossing experience and has completed the assessment, is it safe to assume they are looking at that person for a domestic slot?

It is my understanding that if you have an 07 app on file already, you will not be able to update it until 08. I hope this answers your question.

For those wondering, the "international/oceanic" part means ocean crossing trips, as in trans-Atlantic or trans-Pacific.

Cabo San Lucas to Los Angeles does not count.

That is a pretty interesting and restrictive requirement that will weed out 95% of of potential applicants. Do you think this will be a requirement for all pilots in the future, or do you think this requirement is limited to this particular batch? Seems like now you have to go someplace and get PIC time and then to a second tier freight outfit to get transoceanic experience. Wow!

I would hope that west coast to HNL counts, as that's all the training/experience needed to do ANC-PVG.

I would guess they are looking for experience with HF comm and long range nav procedures. I never saw either flying LAX-GDL.

Well, this is totally speculation. But the demise of the 727 has provided a good number of new bodies to the domestic fleet. Doubt many of those guys went to ANC, which is where they really need people. Also, there may be pressure to put new people in ANC that have heavy time (FAA, training dept, just makes sense...) It seems they are trying to put new hires with heavy time into the MD11 in ANC.

So....

It could be that they want to fill the shortage of bodies in ANC with new hires that have the experience and background to jump right into the arena with minimal difficulty.

I've been desperately waiting to apply, but only have International experience, not Oceanic crossing. 6000 TT, 3500 Turbine PIC, 1300 Jet PIC, all part 121, yet it sounds like I may not be qualified. Do I check "yes" because I have international experience (Canada), and defend my answer later? Or am I setting myself up for failure claiming something I do not have (trans-oceanic)?
I think you might be setting yourself up. I personally wouldn't answer yes if it wasn't true.

All the newhires are going straight to the great white yonder, never to be heard from again (at least for the foreseeable future).
Just keep in mind that if you take that job, you might wanna talk to your spouse about it first. Commuting on that junior schedule is pretty much impossible.

Default It does seem to know you "reapplied"

NoCompromise,

I immediately went to the UPS website today as well when I heard here that it was back open. Like you I answered all the questions "yes", and it asked for my social---then it asked for my password answer and again like you I found myself at my "on file" 07 app from Jan 10th. It said, like it always has, that it "requires no further attention at this time."

Confused, I went back out and tried to apply A SECOND time. This time, when I entered my information, it DID NOT direct me to my application, but said something like "Your data for this postion has been previsously recorded. Bla Bla Bla...thank you for your CONTINUED interest in employment at UPS."

So I take that to mean they know we are "trying" to reapply, and therefore are different than someone with simply their 07 app on file. At least I hope so--if not, all these new apps will be getting the visibility, and our stale ones will be at the bottom of the stack!

All the best to you...

Simply trying to get clarification... And/Or... =Yes to International, and =No for Oceanic. I don't want to risk filling it out with "No" and be locked out until 2008. There should be partial credit for a half right answer It might be best to wait and see if they remove that question once the MD11's are filled. But do to "international expansion", that requirment may never be changed. Do I try for Atlas/Gemini/360/Kalitta, to get an hour or two of trans-oceanic?
