shuttle flights and lunar orbits would probably count as international ops and crossings.
When UPS decides that they need to drop laser guided packages while doing aerobatics, they'll probably hire some of these single seat fighter guys. For now though, we fly heavy aircraft across the world and are looking for pilots with experience doing just that.

reminds me of one of our fo's that had a couple thousand hours but very little cross country time. Flew jumpers!

So now we know the real reason they sometimes land the shuttle in California!

1S1E,
I agree with you.
BTW Lil'J attack on some other thread for some other fighter / heavy argument.
My best friend is a tanker guy, and I know how hard it is. I fly for an airline now, and it's not hard at all.
I have had to fly the tanker from my single seat fighter for them not to hit me.
His response always is.... "I've drag you guys many times accross the pond, that's not international/transoceanic experience".
I just wonder what his/her choice was when he needed to pick his airplane during assignment night at UPT. I was a betting man, I will say not too many.
By the way, I already gave some time to UPS back when, I think I have paid my dues as a former employee, and it has been 13 years to able to qualify, but the come up with these stupid requirements. In my opinion it su..ks! It shows how they treat their people.
And L'il J... How many weapons have you deliver from your tanker?
Cheers,

It sucks for you fighter guys right now in regards to UPS. It's not fair. But it also sucks for the regional guys and pretty much everyone except heavy mil and the ACMI operators. I agree that airline flying is about as easy as it gets.
What I think a lot of folks may be forgetting is that UPS is hiring those without the heavy, transoceanic experience. They just won't be going to the 747-400/MD-11.
And for the record I wanted bombers or the C-17, but they didn't have any at RODN so I chose tankers as my first choice. I even applied later on for the B-2 but was told "no thanks" because I lacked tactical experience. But I loved the tanker though. UPS knows that the current tanker drivers are CPDLCing themselves all around the world right now and they like it!

None. How many times have you done a CPDLC position report, used ADS or logged a 13.1 hour sortie?

I don't even know what CPDLCing is! But, I'll put my 8.5 in a fighter up against a 13.1 where you can get up and walk around or lay down any day! Either way, it was good enough for Brown to call me! I've got a lot of good friends that fly tankers or other heavies and I'm happy for them. But none of the sh!t bags(bottom 3-4) from UPT tracked -38's and probably would have washed out back in the day, still made the cut... so I'm pretty confident I can handle the change to int'l ops.
I never did any laying down. With just 2 total pilots on board I was not willing to trust my 400 hour copilot. You win though as an 8.5 in an F-16 has to be tough.
I am surprised you think that the bottom 3-4 guys from UPT were human feces. You've pretty much insulted the entire E-3 and RC-135 communities.
I'm sure you'll handle international ops as well. It is not that hard or that different.
CPDLC--Controller/Pilot Dat Link Communication It's basically text messaging to ATC position reports and FL requests. The new Blk 40 tankers have been doing it since 2004.

In fact, ironically, after 6 years and several thousand hours flying the MD-11 to all 6 continents, I'm not even qualified for the job I have now. Go figure...

No competition from me. I thought my U-2 time was good but I have an autopilot and a pee can.
