The initial 408 cadre is now in training, it'll take some time to see how the pilot's evolve after the lines actually appear and ossify.
Globally throughout the company beards are not officially supported, we need to be able to use an oxy mask, either for altitude or DG issues.

Mustache is mandatory for men in the 208.

Unless the mask has a placard that says “Will not seal against facial hair”! I’ve depressurized at FL290. Trust me….you want the thing to work. But go ahead and look like a sailor. Hopefully you will never need to rely on an O2 mask for real.

Masks work perfectly fine with beards. There are like 4 airlines in the whole world where this is an issue. Everyone else has got rid of the dumb-mil mindset. I know which side I am on with this.
If I ever depressurize at FL290. Or 390. I'm happy to wear my beard, and happy to know the O2 mask works perfectly fine there.
The flawed study from early 80's with Delta mil pilots trying to prove a point does not change the laws of physics.

Glad the rest of the world, UPS, and other carriers in the US have them work with beards.

So you are saying the mask manufacturer that installed that placard is incorrect? What study or data did your airline (Atlas) or any of the other airlines that permit their pilots to wear a beard use to prove an equivalent level of safety? Or, was it “Well, all these other airlines allow it so it must be ok”?
Air Canada did their own study before permitting facial hair.
