Past....
Doubtful that anyone would be furloughed, as a 3 year bid will probably include (based on known delivery schedules) at least 300 new WB Capts, 300 WB FOs, 50-100 757 Caps and FOs. Even if not a single over 60 guy retires for those 3 years and they fill the back of the 72, that's still at least 700 new positions, minus the 150 or so DC10 SO slots. The junior guys in the back of the 72 will just upgrade. Don't see any furloughs, short of a major recession.

Default NOT Furloughed!

Interesting tact by the company to make a 3 year training letter. Unrealistic by many accounts, but it sure would forces the Ropes to make up their mind. Wait 3 years to upgrade back to the front seat, if the law allows, or just throw in the towel. This whole age 60 thing is dicking up the entire program.
Purple - No offense intended. Typed media just doesn't get the humor across for crap....... Now, read on in section 23 A.2.c a geezer (I'm probably offending someone) will be offered retirement...if rejected, released from employment...."and shall not be considered as having been furloughed in cases where the only crew status the pilot can occupy is second officer." Thus, volunteer will be available. I totally agree with you about the age 60 thing being a bucket of worms.

Agreed. An important note for spectators is that in A2c provisions(refusing retirement and taking furlough) gives up your seniority number and you could only come back as an FO (if re-hired).

If for some strange reason, the company chose A2a (perhaps to reward those who 'built' this company) then the no VLT would apply. I think this wouldn't hurt the company too bad because there would still be DFT, but you and I wouldn't get a say in whether we VLT'd or not, the Germantown speed-dial would be in full effect and out of our control.
