Default Typical 135 interview questions

Hey all,

I'm currently a CFI at a major university looking to get hired hopefully by a 135 carrier. For those who have had multiple interviews, what are some questions that I could almost expect? Also is Everything Explained For the Proffesional Pilot a good resource to study from? That's what a lot of my colleagues and I have been using. I realize every interviewer is different.

Thanks!

Yes, that is an excellent book to use to prepare. There are some 135 operators that take questions directly from that book.

You can expect to be asked about takeoff alternates, when you need alternates, alternate minimums, etc. When can you continue an approach if the wx drops below mins? Expect to brief an approach, possibly an ILS and a GPS. Expect to be asked about SIDS/STARS/RNAVS. Expect systems questions on your current a/c. For example, explain its electrical system.

1. Q. On an approach plate, what indicates the FAF on a precision approach?
A. lightning bolt

2. Q. If before the FAF on an ILS, the ceiling drops to 100 ft AGL and the visibility remains at published minimums of 1/2 sm can you shoot the approach?
A. Yes, because visibility is dictating on a precision approach.

Will post more later.

3. Q. Why is the oil temp requirement for takeoff on your airplane higher then the ones for taxi, climb, cruise, and descent?
A. The oil is used to heat the fuel and melt any ice crystals.

What makes you good at customer service?

Are you willing to sign a training contract?

Why 135? Why not just go to an airline?

Scenario: At the end of a 14 hour duty day, ops tells you to "ninety-one" it back to base so the owner can pencil whip a repair that he won't have done on the road. You're seeing double and are exhausted. What do you do?

Answer: As a 135 pilot, I am perpetually on my knees looking up with mouth wide open as the consummate receptacle for the owner. Not only would I return to base post haste, but I would offer to sweep the hangar or perhaps perform janitorial duties whilst the aircraft is being repaired. Duty and rest have no bearing on our mission to make our Dear Leader profit.

Would you be willing to sign a training contract?
