I don't know what it is like today. I had to leave ExpressJet (L-ASA) one year ago due to family issues. I was there for about 1 year, and I only credited less than 100 hours twice. (90 and 85) I wanted to fly and I did. When I did not have a trip assigned, my airport appreciation days (reserve) usually went like this. Sit at the airport all day. Then 2 hours before I got to leave, scheduling would call me with a trip or a deadhead to pick up a flight. I can only remember once or twice I actually did not fly when I was on airport reserve.
I flew a lot, because I wanted to. There are better start times to bid if you want to fly, and times to bid if you don't want to fly.
If it has changed, I would love to know. I am planning on applying to come back in Jan.
Are there any current reserve FO's lurking who still credit 100 hours on average? (Or is that not possible now)
