What does that have to do with anything? Qatari women are in Qatar. Dubai is in the UAE. Those are two separate countries.

And what exactly is a "typical Qatari garb"? How convenient you just lump all those countries into one and assume that they are all niqab-wearing women.

My bad. I forgot this fashionable pilot works for Emirates and not Qatar.

That said is dress typical of Emirati women in Dubai?

Not sure what the question is. This EK pilot has gone in her regular pilot uniform into these advertisements. As for the Emirati and Qatari women, each country has its own customs and cultures. Dress also varies based on the venue. Going to a mosque is different than going to a restaurant, different going to a mall, etc. It all depends.

A ride to the airport...worth almost nothing in the USA for those who live in base. Everyone has a vehicle anyway.

School fees for 3-4 kids. I don't have kids, but I live in a good school district. I pay $6,000 a year in property taxes and I could have six kids in school if I wanted. They'd also walk to elementary, middle, and high school from this modest property. School fees is insignificant for those in the USA unless the pilot lives in a horrible school district and wants to send their kids to private school.

Life sounds sweet in Podunk, [insert State] for you. What was your point, again? Dubai isn't like Podunk where you live. You pay for transportation, you pay for schooling (and you're gonna want to send them to a British or an American school --- you know how expensive that is?), and and of course the single biggest thing you neglected to mention was the housing provided.

Not defending EK, but this is wildly inaccurate.

I make significantly more than $12,000/month after leaving EK and it was still equivalent to about a $100,000/year pay cut for me to leave. I sometimes wish I had the money left in my pocket every month that I had when I was at EK. It's a huge shock to come back to the USA and pay rent/mortgage, pay taxes, pay health insurance, etc.

My point, which went over your head, is that the perks of schooling and transportation are only 'perks' because of where you have to get yourself to live.

In other words, they're merely taking care of two items that would cause one to find themselves in a predicament in Dubai.

Neither are an issue in "podunk" where I apparently live, which is 25 minutes from a class B airport with an enormous base and walking distance to a big ten university.

Housing allowance? That's nice . . . but do you keep any of it? Or is it just dust in the wind when you pack up and leave Dubai? This money I mentioned to you that is property taxes, not only pays for an unlimited amount of kids in a school district, but also has money going into the value of the house/property.

Thus, when you consider "Podunk USA" gets your kids to school included in what you pay in a mortgage, a housing allowance and free schooling aren't such a perk in comparison -- considering where you have to live to get them.
