Your success or failure at the regional level does not depend on your background. Your attitude and ability to process and learn new information quickly will be what ultimately sets you apart. I've seen CFI's, 135 guys, and many other backgrounds, heck, even prior 121 both sail through training and wash out. Be the best pilot you can, don't stop learning along the way, and when you get to 1500 hours you'll have your pick of regionals to start at.

I think for the forseeable future, as long as you meet the mins, have a pulse, and can fog a mirror, you'll get hired. Getting through training is another matter. I'm not sure why, but at my regional I hear the washout rate is pretty high...maybe people come in assuming they have the job and don't take it seriously enough
