Do regionals prefer CFI or survey pilots?

I've got two recent data points of guys without CFI tickets who've flown survey: one has been hired by Endeavor and another interviews at Compass in a week with a probable offer. I'm an 1100 hr survey guy slogging my way to 1500 and, especially after working projects around some of the big flight academies, I really don't regret not getting CFI.

Well I have seen an airline that will hire CFI and fresh 1500 guys before they will hire some 121 guys with a type or two and no incidents or issues. It's a weird world... They is no way to really know just put the apps out there.

CFIing sucks but it's a good way to build time fast depending on where you instruct. I know guys at WMU (part 141) getting only 40 a month but I work at a part 61 and am getting over 150 a month. All depends on where you instruct

Haha seriously. I hustled pretty hard as a CFI and it was tough to get 100 hours /month. Especially if you're doing ground with all of your students as well.

I usually had 3 students a day, so 4.5 hours/day usually. 5-6 days a week so just over 20 hours a week puts you close to 100 a month. If you decide to go nuts and work 7 a week and have 6 hours a day, it adds up quickly. (Saw that at some contract schools)

I'll fly 7 days a week with 4-5 students/day. Special VFR is an instructor's best buddy!
