Default Why the Hard or Soft 1500hr?

I find it a little bit odd why some regionals can welcome applicants (Air Wis, Envoy, others) with slightly less than (or close to) the 1500 hrs mark while others (skywest, endeavor, others) want the full 1500.

What gives (if anything)?

Personally like most other long-term cfi's i'm close hours wise but kinda far off on the XC number (which is hard to get.) If there's "give" on the top line # how much "give" is there on this?

Thx!

You're either referring to the Restricted ATP (141 university flight program and military), or the sim training during airline ground school counting towards a few hours. I don't know much about the latter, but as far as I know just about every regional will take anyone who would be legally qualified by the end of sim training.

That being said, sims won't help with cross country.

You can count up to 25 hours of sim time toward atp.

You can count 100 hours of part 141/142/135/121 sim time towards your ATP certificate.

I've been told it has to do with the respective airline's local FSDO(Isn't standards in their name?). Some are cool with it, others are not. I think Express Jet will take you in up to 40 hrs short. I have a CJO at one of the companies that requires 750TT. Currently sitting around 650TT with all of the other sub-category boxes checked trying to scramble and get to 750 before my written expires in July. I'm NOT interested in retaking it.

I'm pretty sure you need more than 750 even on a restricted ATP. If you're under 750 now it's highly unlikely, but not impossible to get enough hours and training to take ATP ride before 7/31. I agree, taking written a second time would suck...

Just how far off from XC are you? You can get a R-ATP with 200.

Keep in mind for ATP cross country all you need is to fly 50 nm away, and no landing is necessary. Do manuevers in one direction for 20-30 min then turn around and do them on the way back to the airport. Especially if you're teaching in a twin or a cirrus you can knock out cross country time pretty easily this way.

For the purpose of ATP mins, it is just 50 nm distance. No landing required. For Envoy, you can use 36 hours of our sim time plus 10 hours from the ATP/CTP(if needed) plus any sim time in an FTD from a part 141/142/135/121 operator if it was towards a certificate or rating.
