It's all fun and games till your on reserve and get activated right after throwing a steak on the grill and your lady friend is walking around in her panties feeling frisky. Now you have to go do a last minute overnight in s#%t-kick holler, KY and you have to settle for a solo stool at the Waffle House.

A few cents here. I am a prior 121 pilot - 2 years at a regional, 2 years at a 121 international charter airline. I left, went to law school, became an attorney, and now going back to 121 in hopefully a month. There are many unhappy pilots on here because they don't know what real work is. Leave flying and go sit an in office 10 hours a day getting it from all ends and a few legs a day mashing buttons 3-4 days a week ain't bad even if you don't like flying.
I miss flying and in comparison to my current job, I didn't work a day of my 4 years as an airline pilot.

by the way some of you guys make it sound maybe I should just stick to being a Captain in my Lockheed P3D Flight simulator on my computer. Maybe the issue isnt so much flying as it is the airline industry. I just can't see how anyone would be unhappy climbing out in a beautiful Boeing 737-800

Im kind of a P3D fan myself and I'll tell you that it's more enjoyable to play P3D at home than it is to fly a real four day trip lol

I still like being on the job in general. I would have been much happier doing without the seniority stagnation on reserve, Airline merger, bankruptcy, downgrade, displacement then reset at the bottom of Regional #2 that now has a questionable future while I hope for a major to come to my rescue before all that happens again.
