I haven't been offered anything yet except the interview, I thought asking the pilot group their take on the company would ease my worries.

OK, Spirit is my first choice. I live in one of the bases so that is a no brainer for me. I am not looking for a father figure to tell me which airline to choose. I am looking for guys at Spirit to give some indication as to whether its worth it or not .
I am not really interested in going through all the hassle of interview, training to find out the qol sucks.
The fact that the company is unwilling to bring pay rates up to levels that are fair is a little concerning. None of you truly know what the end result of this will be until a TA is reached, however the amount of money spirit takes in monthly vs what your being paid is a slap in the face

It may be a few years of negotiations, and strike if necessary (that seems to be the only thing this mgmt knows), but the pay will improve.

Please do us a favor and don't come to Spirit. Many of us "retreads" have found a good home here and we're not looking for malcontents who are expecting Spirit to magically become Delta or American. We made a choice to come here from a variety of airlines that have gone out of business and furloughed us.
I personally want to share the cockpit with first officers who really want to be here, believe in the business model and are realistic about what Spirit is now and what it may be in the future. I've been in this industry long enough to know not to fall in love with a company's potential. Stay where you are and wait for your true airline love to come calling.
If Spirit Airlines is truly your airline of choice to work for then I will welcome you with open arms and offer my help in anyway possible as I have for many of my fellow pilots I have wrote LORs for. I know Spirit's not perfect but it is my home for the last 10 years of a rather turbulent career and I would like to continue working with pilots who really want to be part of this airline.
If you're looking for someone to sell you on this place and change your mind then I think you have your answer.

Just a thought.

Long time lurker here, thanks OP for the thread.. I too have an interview.. Corporate guy here looking for some normalcy to my schedule.. Huge huge pay cut, but thinking getting back to some 121 flying may help my chances getting interviews with the legacy's.. I hate to use Spirit as a stepping stone, but based on what I'm reading here... Maybe that's ok.

I am seeing a lot if negative stuff about Spirit in this site..
I have an interview coming up looking at the pay scale and benefits why would I want to go there?
I am a regional captain who is making almost as much as some captains there. The difference is I carry 70 pax you all are carrying over 200, seems JetBlue or united might be a better option...
Anyone care to change my mind?

Depends on:
1. Where you live or where you are willing to move to, living in base is key to any airline.
2. If you live in a Spirit base, are you willing to sit right seat for a long time? Anybody hired after today needs attrition or a new plane order to ever upgrade. We have very few retirements, and not a lot of captains are moving on to greener pastures. Best case scenario is 5-6 years to upgrade, and that's a big IF a new plane order comes in. Realistically, plan on a 10 year upgrade.
3. Are you willing to take a paycut. If you are making over 100k, you will be taking a pay cut for a long time unless you want to really game the system. As an F/O that's been here more than 1 year you can expect 60-90k with 14-16days off on average. Some F/O's do better, but they're constantly monitoring flica and bidding strategically for it.
4. If this is your dream job then come here, it's not bad if you know what you're getting into. The contract and pay scales will get better eventually, hopefully. But probably not anytime soon.

Are you asking where you should go? No disrespect, but do you-as a Captain-make decisions like that? I can understand asking about nuances and variances about each company. However, the 'anyone care to change my mind' is certainly not a good statement indicative of one who would be a future Captain here. Get as much information you can, parse out truth from fiction or subjective views, get the interview and JOB OFFER(S), then make your decision based on what YOU want and FU$K the opinion of everyone else.
I have worked for crap rates for years, I don't need to fly bigger equipment for the same crappy wages.
I guess the phrasing of the question should've been reworded as to not cause this thread to be thrown back at me.
What I am looking for you the pilots perspective, outlook, stability if spirit.
Regional airlines suck, I don't want to go from one crap hole to another.
A lot of crewroom talk about where Spirit is paywise. A fair amount of guys feel the same way..
