Online Degree

get it from a university with a real physical campus and they will not know the difference. Texas A&M at Commerce, Texas campus, UT Tyler, are all reputable state schools with online programs. Degree does NOT say "online"

stay away from Univ of Phoenix and other schools, all are under varying scrutiny or on the radar of regulators for shady operating practices.
go to a state university with a real campus, but that allows an online degree. This is especially important if you will seek a Masters Degree years later.
Global Campus - Online Degree Programs - Tarleton State University is one such example

You don't need to get the CFI ratings, I didn't. Just did everything up to the ATP and their "turbine prep" class. You just have to have a certain number of degree credits and that's it. You could in theory take the CFI ground class online and never get the CFI added.
