Default Best overall regional for new hire-IAD/DCA

Anyone have an opinion on what's the best overall regional to shoot for in building currency and part 121 experience out of IAD or DCA is? I've been looking at Air Wisconsin, CommutAir and Mesa. It seems like from the regional forums, Air Wisconsin and CommutAir have decent contracts and QOL. Thanks.

If you want to go to IAD, your best bet would probably be TSA. Growing company with quick upgrade, and new hires are getting assigned IAD. Air Wisconsin has the best contract but longer upgrade and uncertain future. Their contract was extended by three years so after that, who knows.

Agreed. I spent almost two years at TSA, IAD-based. The IAD chief pilot is a former Comair pilot as is the DO. Both are good men.

That said, if you have a family, the insurance that the pilots pay is above $500/month. There is also a two-hour reserve call out with TSA. I don't know what the call out provisions are for the carriers you mentioned.

Are you a military guy? Don't subject yourself to the likes of silver.

Rick: yes I am. It was more for building up turboprop time and currency/recency to set me up for the ISR King Air jobs.

Yeah if you need prop time I guess there's not a lot of options. I'd give you mine if I could.

What about Piedmont Airlines? They have bases around Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, and they operate Dash8s.

In class with TSA now in STL. All new folks are tentatively assigned IAD out of training. Seems like a good group of folks to fly with. Company is growing quickly. Don't know much about the others.

Have you looked in to CommutAir? KIAD base, great crews, fun dash 8, hardly no reserve and quick upgrade
