Checkride Failures
Hello.
Back when I was 18 I busted my CFI initial three times. Yes three times. It was 100% my fault and I rushed to get it done too quick. I learned my lesson and changed a lot about how I approach things in aviation. Fast forward to 5 years later I've passed multiple 135 checkrides and 121 checkrides including a upgrade. I have a clean record, not even a speeding ticket.
Do I stand a chance at a major or LCC? Would this prevent me from getting a call?

I think 121 failures are worse according to a major or lcc. I have close friends at all the majors and lcc's that have told me they have failed a 121 checkride, 1 guy failed his type ride. So, I dont think a CFI will hurt you as long as you are humble about it and say you learned alot from the situation. Never blame the examiner... like you already said on here, "it was 100% your fault" stick with that.

Good call.
To the op, it depends on the company culture. Will it prevent you from being called? With the shear number of retirements coming up, no. How long, is anyone's guess. I know Delta says that more than 2 checkride failures is a negative, period. I doubt that will change for many years to come.
Most airlines use a logarithm based hiring, and the higher your score is, the more likely you will be called. Based on your experience, I wouldn't hold my breath to be hired soon. There are literally thousands of people out there with impressive records, just playing the waiting game.

The most helpful answer I can think of: I noticed on Emerald Coast that they'll coach you on how to answer questions about busts. Of course, you've got to have an interview in the first place for that to matter. Try getting rec letters from check airmen at your current gig, maybe? Show up to recurrent and just absolutely know your stuff and fly the hell outta the sim. Rec letters from check airmen and maybe pilots you fly with might help soothe over any concerns about failures in your past.
Disclaimer: I have no experience with this, I'm just thinking out loud... pure conjecture. Go to a job fair and ask a recruiter for better answers.
