Need advice. Wait for AA, or go to UAL now?
So this is my situation which is causing me some sleep loss the past few days. I am currently an Envoy pilot who will flow to AA in the next 9-12 months. The flow (for anyone that doesn't know) involves no interview or medical. You are given a class date and you show up to class.
I just got an email from United asking me to start the interview process. I applied to both United and Delta because I did not want to feel like I had made no effort to leave Envoy while I waited to flow to AA. I don't think I ever expected either of them to call me, because I really don't have anything great on my resume.
I feel like it's crazy to turn down a chance at UAL today, for a job at AA in the future, but I will take 16 years of seniority to AA for vacation and 401k benefits. Not having to go through all the stress of interviewing is a huge bonus too.
I also live in Miami and would like to stay here, or possibly move to Southern California, so AA is the best choice if I want to stay in Miami.
The more I read what I have wrote it would seem like AA is the obvious choice, but at the same time it feels so wrong to turn down a chance at United (or turn down any job offered at any major for that matter). I know that I could interview at United, and I might not get the job, but I would rather make the decision now before investing time and money getting ready for a United interview.
Any advise, or anyone been in a similar position?
Thanks. I need a good nights sleep!

Start the UAL interview process, you'll regret it if anything changes with Envoy flow to AA. This industry is too shaky to live for the future, take what you can get now.
Just curious, what's your experience to get the interview?

I am wondering if there would be anyway to interview at United and then put a class date on hold due to personal reasons??
My experience is over 10,000 hours with about 4000 TPIC. I have no family or internal recs at UAL, and no check airman or any other good quals. I think without a doubt that the job fair I went to last year was what got me "the call". I was skeptical that job fairs helped, but I have totally changed my mind now.

Start the interview process. As others mentioned..there's no telling what will happen to the AA flow through. Right now it is a healthy program and in the future it may very well be also... but as an insurance policy for yourself.. invest your time and effort prepping for UAL interview.

Interview. Remember that you are interviewing United as a place that you might want to work at as much as they are interviewing you.
It would be a complete waste to turn down the interview. You applied for a reason.

I'd say get a job offer from United before saying you have a choice to make. Go to the interview. You might found out its a great fit for you and you might find out AA is the place you want to be. But get the CJO and make it YOUR decision
