Isn't it more difficult ($$$) to get the MEL ATP now?
I'd skip the PP-MEL because you can log PIC on a solo endorsement and go right for the commercial. You will NOT be a student pilot with the associated restrictions. The IR-A add-on should be easy (you already have the IR-RH, right?) and might be able to do it on the same ride.

Yes IR-RH in hand.
Thought process was this - use GI Bill for Multi-Comm and Multi IFR. Multi IFR automagically gives single engine IFR. After that Multi time building to get total, cross country and night time needed for ATP.
Bonus would be, using up my Montgomery GI Bill and getting my multi comm and ifr which i've wanted for a while now. so even if i never work a day as an starch wing jock I'm ok with that.
definitely would like to hear more about the current job market though and prospect/viability of someone with mostly helicopter time making the transition.

I left the military with mostly helo time. Multi-comm on the GI Bill, job offer, turned it down for a different job, and that lead to my current job. Prospects are good.
I don't recommend using your GI bill to get your certificates - it's not a good use of free money. Time build in a single if you can, as well.

61.156 was what I was thinking about. The ATP-MEL just became a PITA to get outside of an airline. A quick search found All ATPs will have a program in Tx, but it's not approved yet. According to the webpage, it's $5k for their course JUST FOR THE WRITTEN. Also, I don't believe All ATPs is VA approved.

Found this poking around the web -
"SkyWest Minimum Requirements When Counting Helicopter or Glider Time
SkyWest Airlines recognizes the skills common to helicopter and glider flying. SkyWest will accept up to one hour of flight time for every two hours helo time; not to exceed 250 hours of helicopter time."
Pilot » SkyWest Airlines
At least the info was easy to find. I hadn't seen any other Regionals that break it down like that, unless I'm just looking at the wrong places ? or is SkyWest the only ones that don't give full credit ?
I know Skywest has a decent reputation, any other recommendations ?
Also for QoL what airlines have bases in Pensacola, Panama City, Mobile ? VPS/Eglin would be first choice. Yes I know that American Eagle flies out of there, I guess what I am asking is if you search for American Eagle I found that Envoy Republic and Express Jet all operate as American Eagle. This different airlines operating as other airlines is confusing to me. Is Envoy where I would want to apply ?

Sent in my app to PSA and wasn't necessarily good for much at all unfortunately. It's just me but I'd put twin engine, turbine, multi-crew, heavy helicopter time against a single engine piston any day.
If it counts towards your ATP time, you'd think it counts towards the Regionals.
