i heard the army requires people to make a commitment of 10-20 years...
i fly part time for a medevac carrier, have 1500tt and recent upgrade to left seat on the king air
my goal is to get to any major airline...

Also, which AAG regional has the best flow/progress towards AA?
envoy/psa/piedmont?

i have a shiny jet syndrome, so I would prefer the bigger jets like the crj900 over piedmont's dash's....

also, i am finishing up some credits from university full time at the moment...
Please forgive my first post on the forums being a tad preachy...
What you haven't considered I think is that the military is not a career. Lives depend on you in a completely different way than flying an airliner.

If you want to come here to serve your country and put your butt on the line for the guys around you then being a pilot in the military is an amazing experience. We need good pilots. If you just want to build time to be a pilot for a major then I would advise you stay away. Depending on what airplane they stick you in, you WILL risk your life for those around you. It isn't just the little pointy nosed guys that risk their necks. I fly big slow birds and I am "in it" on a regular basis.

It's the most rewarding thing I can imagine but it is also one of the hardest if you take it seriously, and in my opinion it must be taken seriously. I've done things in airplanes no civilian guy would dream of, usually to help out brothers and sisters on the ground. It is awesome... but there is an oath to take and Uncle Sam will collect in some way.
