From a business sense I don't see them ever improving. You will always get younger pilots to fly for less to just be in a jet. Hasn't changed from when I was in the business 11 years ago. I was on the Saab and everyone wanted to be on the jet me included. Young and stupid I guess and inpatient.
In my business now it's always the cheap mans job next, have to find a way to be competitive. I don't agree with the low wages for regionals but I can see why the majors shop it around. It's all about the bottom line in their eyes.

My recommendation- Don't do it! Get your aviation "fix" another way.
Fly for fun, be a CFI on weekends, or better yet, can your company benefit from acquiring a small aircraft to further expand the business? Trust me, If you go back to full time flying, you will regret being away from your family as much as you will be.

I would miss my family I know that, sometimes when your out of the business for so long you forget all the nights in the hotel and being gone for 4 days (at times now it would be nice to be gone for a night or two!).
My business is in the Chicago area and that's were the work is, having a company airplane might not work just yet. Would be nice to find a part 91 or 135 outfit were I can fly a few times a month since I have the flexibility on doing this any day.
Its one of those choices when I make I have to keep, tough choice.
