I think your timing will make things interesting. The regionals are starting to create programs to attract new pilots. Pay is on the rise, with more changes coming at the end of 2015. I am at CommutAir based in IAD, and really enjoy working with the crew. CommutAir offers free hotel (4 per month) for pilots who commute in the night before their run starts. This is good enough where pilots don't need a crash pad. Feel free to pm me with questions and good luck!

Piedmont, it's simple.

Higher 1st year pay anywhere outside of Endeavor (when you consider the temporary bonus), Health Benefits package, contract, reasonably quick upgrades (2 years), and you can bid the Jets after a year if you really want it. Then there's the no questions asked Flow to AA.

I would choose between TSA and AWAC. Better pay and QOL than Republic and Mesa. The only thing about AWAC is the contract expiration.

My current front runners are (in no particular order):

AWAC, TSA and Piedmont.

AWAC will be number one on my list if the contract is renewed (or new/even better contract secured). Not chasing a super fast upgrade... Willing to pay my dues, but the upgrade time is of slight concern. Right now I understand it hovers between 4-5 years. Hopefully looking for a bit faster upgrade than that, but if the contract, pay and benefits are right, AWAC will stay strong at the top of my list. Probably rumors at this point... but has anyone heard anything internally about the contract?

TSA is undergoing expansion and securing new airplanes... A good sign. Upgrade times fast (for now) and decent contract. I have a friend there just upgraded to Captain...Likes it very much. No gripes. Left XJ to get the Captain upgrade.

Piedmont: I know less about them, but have consistently heard good things. Not so concerned with their "flow through".... I believe that barring another recession or catastrophic event, the majors will be pulling from any and all regionals... flow through may not matter. Does anyone think there is any merit at all to the notion "stay away from turboprops, they will slow your career progression....?" My logical sense tells me this is a false statement, but I'm not in the industry and simply don't have the knowledge to accurately make an assessment on this.

Mesa and CommutAir will remain on my radar, but not my top choices for now.... A lot can change in six months though...

Turboprops: TPIC doesnt seem to matter that much these days.. why would jet/prop matter?!? It doesn't.

Carriers are looking for structured 121 flying.

Most of the PDT training legends are just that, washout resentment.

Truth. There are many major CA and FO that came from a turboprop carrier. 121 flying is 121 flying period. Anyone who says otherwise isn't too educated in the process.

If you live closer to IAD, TSA, but if you live closer to DCA, I would go with RAH (republic), only because the Air Wisconsin future is uncertain.

Full disclosure, I work for RAH and am based out of DCA

Which one of these offers the most time at home/ shorter trips? Thinking if you have a family, etc and don't want to go missing for too long. PHL,EWR, or IAD but don't want to bomb the thread completely.

Look at a part 135 cargo. You can be home every night.
