Short Haul = Home at night?
#12
I'm home every single night with my airline. I live in base and my seniority in seat can hold it. I typically work M-W early AM and am home by dinner.
With that being said..if I upgrade, it's over for a LONG time. My base can close, flying can shift, mergers and displacements happen.
For now though..I'm home every night.

At my regional, I'm home every night. It's not common and seniority is definitely a factor. But being able to do this is getting harder and harder. I
t depends a lot on your company aircraft routing. In general, aircraft that stay overnight in your outstations require a crew there in the morning. My base, the aircraft stay at the hub overnight so first flight is done by someone starting a trip and last flight is someone finishing. This sucks for commuting but works for those who live local.

If you live in base are senior you can generally do locals. "Senior" is relative...depending on base & airplane it could be anywhere from top 10% to 45%.
You can get there eventually if it's important to you but it won't happen right away.
