Logbook Debacle
Corporate guy for 15 years and getting together times for airline apps. I was lazy and times and entries in the paper logbook are a complete mess. I have takeoffs and landings on EVERY leg along with PIC on every leg after my type ratings (idiot). I flew in a typical corporate environment of leg rotating and assigned PICs for each trip. After about a month of RONs I was able to input everything into Logten Pro. I noticed even more errors in the logbook after this and as neatly as I could, crossed out the entries and updated the times. Should I go back into Logten and WAG what legs I was PIC and SIC and adjust my takeoffs and landings? What about my paperlogbook? I haven't done anything to it in well over a year since I input everything into Logten. My current applications have a PIC correction of 75%. For every 100 hours of time I would make 75 hours PIC and 25 SIC. I figured between flying with other PICs and a few SICs that it was about right. How exact are these hiring boards?
Thanks in advance.

Majors are very precise...honestly you might well be hosed if you take that logbook to an interview.
I hear of guys going to interviews with e-logbook printouts and never even getting asked for paper books. You might get away with that...you could claim your books got stolen?

Thanks for the reply rickair. I can go into the paper logbook and write a single entry stating the error and update the landings and time, date it and sign it. I can easily update and change the electronic logbook. Do you believe that would suffice or should I leave it and explain the situation should an interview come?

Take the time to properly complete the correct time in the logbook. Don't be that guy in the interview having to constantly explain things about inconsistencies or errors.
Cheers!

Thank you for the replies. I dusted off the logbook and thankfully the landings are only on the electronic logbook. Easily edited for accuracy. I just need to make the PIC adjustment on the paper side. I can easily do the electronic PIC/SIC adjustment. It's just that mess on the paper that is bugging me.

When there are errors, rather than attempting to go back to each error and correct, it's generally far better to do a single line entry adding or subtracting the time, and make a comment to that effect in the remarks section.
The correction disappears in the next page, is understated, and doesn't draw attention. By doing it that way, the page totals are correct, and it's the current totals to which the reviewer will look.
