If one elected to take that ATP CPT course, assuming they used an RJ sim. Would that be enough to familiarize yourself with an RJ prior to regional training or would a full transition course be necessary? I noticed the ATP CPT is roughly a week but a true RJ transition course is about 2 weeks.

Yup as much as I say run from this dirty diaper, with the new deal for returning longevity, this place would pay better than any other short of a street captain job, and who knows how long before you are displaced out of that... And believe me I'm FAR from touting this place but for you it sounds like it may be your best option

Back after 5 years.......
Welcome back. I was out 5 years for my mother in law RIP and a special needs son. Stepped up from Caravan to Lear when I got back. Times are improving for now. Better get those hours/type ratings, and save up for the next round of furloughs and layoffs. Hi, my name is FO and I'm a flyaholic.

Yeah, I was looking at that Sportys course as well. I believe it's actually held in Wilmington, OH at KILN which is only about an hour from me.
I don't know anything about their sim except that it's a DC-9. I'm assuming it's all glass? I'm hoping this course will be through enough so I wouldn't have to take a RJ course as well.

I was in a similar situation this time last year. Out 11 years, former ATR FO with Eagle. I live in Atlanta, so XJT was the best choice for me. I applied on airline apps, received a call the next day, interviewed a couple weeks later and found myself sitting in ground school a couple weeks after that. This process will happen faster than you think!
I do not think you need to spend thousands on a transition course. Since I was not current, I had a simulator evaluation for the interview in a ERJ. I was very nervous leading up to that, but they put you at ease and are really looking for basic instrument skills. I spent about 5 hrs at a local flight school and paid a cfii to run me through the profile in a redbird sim (garmin glass and set up like a 182 or something). Best money ever spent. That will get your scan back and the glass is very similar to the RJ's.
I did not have the burden of the new ATP written regs, but xjt has a approved course and I'm sure others will follow.
My advice is to just get on Airline Apps, apply to any that have a base that works for you. Let them guide you on the ATP written.
Welcome back, pm me if I can help.

A question about 9E's return to work program...
I was a Mesaba SF340 FO in 2001 and furloughed in 2003. I declined furlough recall because I was deploying as a National Guard pilot. Fast forward 11 years, I am now about to retire and looking to return to flying FAR121.
Can anyone shed any light on the contractual language about "returning" pilots and where they would fall out on the seniority list?
Thanks!!
