If you want it get it. But regionals aren't going to care about it at all. Also, another opportunity to blow a checkride that you'll have to explain.

It will have no bearing on your employability.

In that case, definitely get the MEI. It's the easiest of all the instructor rides because you've already knocked out so many of the Tasks.

This was kind of my thinking ass well because as of right now I have yet to fail a checkride and kind of want to keep my perfect record.

get the mei, besides you have no guarantees on a regional hire time line, so if your going to instruct you might as well build mutli time. beside doing it a few years from now will cost even more

Yes, if you can afford it.

It's another box to check when you apply to majors, and it make you more competitive for check airman jobs at regionals, which will make you significantly more competitive for for majors.

Don't take the check ride unless you feel prepared.

You should never be scared of failing a check ride. Be prepared and be confident. (Yes I know sh*t happens and people have bad days but that's life. And if you go to the airlines and have a 20-30 years career you are bound to bust a ride or two over your career, it's not the end of the world; unless of course you make a trend out of it.)

Is the MEI a big plus for the regionals or do they not care that much as long as you have the required time? Thanks.
Take the MEI. Cheapper then paying 50hr multi, and it gives you more qualifications, a chance to study more, be more proficient, and the opportunity to actually get paid to fly and log multi time.

That said, how long it will take you to reach the 50hr after your MEI training and while giving multi instruction?

If the MEI option will get you what you want, by the time you would normally finish the 300hr, I think you should do the MEI.
If the school where you teach does not have many students for multi ratings and it would take you an extra year to get the 50hr, then consider the other option. Time is money. Seniority is important.

My understanding is that in today market the regionals would not care if you have an MEI.

Default MEI Add On.

It wouldn't take long to reach the 50 hours mark with the MEI. My flight school is one of those that has nothing but foreign students and they all do they're commercial multi only. The reason why I'm even debating it is because I would only be even using it until around January when I believe I will reach the 1,000 R-ATP requirement.

Then why not taking the MEI? It would be cheaper than buying 50hr of multi, you would make some extra bucks, it would give you an excuse to be more proficient, it would give you an extra rating, and you never know if you might end up using it for some part time gig while you work in a regional.
