I'm n a similar situation as you. I spoke to serveral recruiters and they all said they wanted to see a few hundred hours. I asked if all hours were equal in their eyes. I was contemplating a CFII gig or a regional job. Every recruiter said the regional time coupled with some 121 experience will get me a call quicker. The pay is bad, but a type ratiing is expensive and it propably won't get you a call any earlier without more recency of experience. Just my two cents, but the longer you put off getting some recent/relevant hours, the longer you will wait to get a call. There are thousands of qualified and current pilots looking for jobs right now.
