Upset Recovery, Spin/Stall & Aerobatics
I know cross country is very favorable in terms of getting the airlines to hire you, but I was wondering if having a lot of Upset Recovery, Spin/Stall, and Aerobatics Training can be very favorable as well?
The reason I ask is, locally, there are a few instructors that train for those and the cost per hour is identical to my normal flight training I'm taking now.
Without a doubt it is a lot of fun and I plan to continue with the training because I believe it is helping me to become a better pilot in recognizing and being a little more comfortable when things don't seem to be going right.
Would it look really good/favorable if you are an instructor for Upset Recovery, Spin/Stall, and Aerobatics as well?
Thank you all for any advice and recommendations.

Man, you would hope so. Unfortunately most resumes have to get through HR first and that is usually much more of a checking-the-box type deal as far as minimums, but you would hope that upset training and aerobatics are considered. Too many accidents recently where people just don't understand angle of attack IMO.

I will continue to do it for my own personal benefit and safety. Getting the job is one thing, but surviving it is another.
If I ever end up able to instruct for such types of training I would glorify it in a cover letter I suppose.
Thanks for the input.
James, you have experience, or are currently, crop dusting, correct?

Upset recovery training is good no matter the reasoning. I don't know where you are located but highly recommend ACRO DYNAMICS.

If U are around NE region! My suggestion to try Yak-52 to get one of the Best Aerobatic experience ! I did total of 5 Hrs on that thing!:-) loops, spins, inverted spins, flat spin, etc. (with CFI of course:-)) at LDJ.

This outfit has a pretty good reputation for that type of training:
Training Squadron Six (VT-6) Shooters
Heard they have pretty good rates.

It REALLY gets good though if you buy their premium package and attend the advanced maneuvering course.

There is a training contract though. 8 years or $1.2 million non-prorated bond. I've seen guys weasel out of both, but they are having a hard time finding an airline gig.
