Default TSA background check for expats

Hello gents,

Anyone know or have any experience regarding the TSA background check for expats trying to get back to the US?

IF so

What is the process for pilots wanting to come back to the US for a part 121 carrier from companies in the Middle East or Europe, like Emirates, Etihad, BA etc?

I recently heard from an expat colleague, that he was turned away from Jetblue and VA because his TSA background check would take too long due to him bouncing around different carriers and countries in the Middle East and Asia.

Any information would be helpful .. i'm sure with the potential of the Majors hiring, a lot of Americans overseas will definitely try and get back.
