It may be different in the UK, but in the US I made more money cutting grass in high school than I did as an instructor, and I made more money as an instructor than I did my first two years at the airlines. There are very few jobs I can think of that pay less per year provided you have at least a high school education.

I am in the same situation as you, kind of a "between a rock and a hard place" but Ill add my two cents.. I use to build commercial and military aircraft here in the States, From 737 777 747 and B2.. I remember watching these aircraft leave the runway and Ill tell you all I wanted is to fly.. On another note, my girlfriend is a RN and has been for 20 years... all she wants is out. so, Ill just say if you want to do something whether it be an RN or a pilot.. Then go for it!
