Driving history denied me 4 jobs... :-(
So, I got a response to a follow-up email I sent to ExpressJet, and they denied me for an interview because I have "more than 3 tickets on my record which is all that the board allows an applicant to have". Then, I call another Part 121 company (we'll leave it at that) and they denied me an interview, but didn't have a reason (i'm going to assume driving record). Now, that being said I had 8 or so tickets between 2002 and mid 2007. However, after mid 2007 up until currently I have 0 tickets. So, I have 5 bad years and 5 clean years of driving. What can I do, if anything with my driving history? How do I break into the airline industry? Thanks in advance...

5 years clean DL sounds fine but apparently your targets are asking for more than that. Things like DUIs, suspensions, reckless driving, high-point speeding is taken as seriously as rape and bank robbery. Did they ask for ten years time or did you volunteer it? If they asked, then you had better find a job where they don't want the ten years until the ten years are behind you. I would not feel all that bad as many us have had serious DL history to work off, but you had better stick to companies wanting 3-5 years DL history until you are a bit further down the road.

Those are some serious tickets. You need to put more time between you and your previous inner driver. Never apply to any job where in order to apply you must tell about a driving past this colorful. Honesty does not excuse serious tickets, you need to put a few years between now and the next position you apply for which asks for more than 5 years history. Good luck.

Perhaps a consultation with a lawyer might help to clean up that history, especially for being clean for five years.
A round with an interview prep business might also assist in how you present your "young and stupid" days.
Sell the Porsche and get a old beat-up diesel that can't get past 55.
Perhaps some places in Alaska might be interested in hiring you, but whatever you do, keep your record clean from now on.

Most charter places really don't care. Well, they don't ask about it anyway... Try to get on with a freight company, then work you way into charter. Lots of other ways to make a buck besides the airlines (and many of them pay a lot better).
