Go for it. Do well and you can buy your own plane and go where you want.

Your job clearly isn't a priority in your family, which is probably good for your family. You recently moved to Tampa, but didn't check out the pilot market prior to moving. Your wife has a great job and tolerates your obsession, but not to the point of letting you go to a crap regional, making no money and being gone all the time. Smart girl.

If you don't want to instruct, you could fly banners out of Whitted or haul jumpers. But instructing might be your best chance of meeting some business guy who might need a pilot down the road.

Before you chastise the guy for that comment... Read the last part of it.

He acknowledged the state of the industry and what pilots are willing to do... And put a face at the end.

Seriously doubt he was implying he'd actually do it. In fact I think he was just saying he can see WHY pilots do it.

Tough crowd.... Check out Silver Airways they have a base in TPA it's senior, however I don't think it will take long to hold. It's an airline gig, but I don't see any other options for you if you don't want to move.
