Background Checks
#11
Ten years is the look-back date for the TSA.
There is no longer any official five year window that I am aware, unless it is the airline's window (possibly forced by state law).
I would say that this can probably be managed into a molehill, but could easily become a mountain if you do the wrong things.
There are timelines associated with third-party background checks (federal law). This is where an employer hires an outside agency to conduct background checks. Most info is limited to seven years, BK to ten, but criminal convictions are indefinite. Some states have additional laws which are stricter on the employer.
However...this only applies to third party checks. If the employer has the money and inclination they can do their own research with few limits, although some states may impose time limits on things like civil proceedings and BK.
