MIL to carrier
Hello,
I'm an active duty F-4E AUP pilot with the HAF.
My experience is 2010 hrs in F-4, 559 hrs of which are as a backseater (WSO), plus about 250 hrs as a student (T-41D, T-37 B/C, T-2E)
I'm an I.P. (about 300 hrs both front and back seat training), and qualified advanced instructor (series of advanced maneuvers - not all IP''s qualified).
I' m currently serving in the STAN-EVAL office of the C.W. Also I have a CPL/ ATPL theory licence isuued by the HCAA with F-4 !!!!!!!!!!!! type rating.
The question is whether I have any chances to find a desend job as a crew
in an civil company. (if yes I will place another question about the next steps I have to make).
Thanks in advance,
phantnick

By HAF do you mean Honduran Air Force? Do they have F-4's?
Backseat time means nothing, unless it has dual controls.
Subtract out your WSO time, if that leaves 1500 hours as pilot in an F-4 plus some IP pilot time then you could get a job at a US airline if you have a green card. You may also be able to get hired by certain overseas airlines.

Thanks for your immediate response !
Yes HAF is Hellenic Air Force !
Yes our Phantoms are all with dual controls and all WSO's are only temporary on the back seat (they have the same pilot training with all other single seat pilots until their assingment in the F-4's) and they keep current with IFR ratings.

The best US major airlines will want 1000-1500 hours of turbine PIC, others will accept 1000 hours as either PIC, SIC, or a combination.
Your qualifications are very similar to what US military pilots normally have when they get hired by US majors. You will also need a US ATP (or CPL for some airlines), these should not be too hard to get since you already have Greek equivalents.

The way we fly is that in the front seat is the Pilot in command and we reffer to the WSO as a copilot.
In fact as a WSO you have the chance to fly the airplane but only in the non - tactical part of the mission.
I assume that SIC is second in command ?
thanks again, I think I've got the information I needed.
