I was hired with Eagle wearing a black suit, white shirt and gold tie. A friend was hired in an olive shade type of suit. What ever you put together make it look good and most importantly, FIT! I never wore the black, white, red tie combo because I felt like a clown wearing it and feel it's out dated in today's world (just my opinion), if you feel comfortable, you will present more confidence. But do set certain restrictions..I'd opt out of a purple shirt..

I just bought a white shirt, it will go with the black suit, and I might go with a tie that isnt red, it depends what looks best, I agree that the corporate world is changing, I do not see a little bit of change is bad, as long as its fitting.

Out of curiosity, is a red tie mandatory? I was under the impression that was only really for Delta. I know you do not want crazy, distracting ties, but I have several professional looking ties with simple, repeating patterns that go well with a white shirt and dark suit. Should I just go out and get a plain red tie for airline interviews?
