Logbook Entries
I've heard several different opinions so I thought I'd throw it out here for some more insight. I was told early on by an instructor that as long as each individual flight is logged in the log book in ink, recruiters will accept the page totals, and total totals ,logged in pencil. I've always done it this way and found it to be a good precaution having several found addition errors in my book requirring correction made easier due to having used pencil for totals. I've never been questioned on it as of yet. Does anyone have any comments?

Hi!
Yes, STOP, IMMEDIATELY, and switch to an electronic logbook. You are wasting valuable time and effort.
If you want paper logbook, print your elog out whenever you feel like it.
Make whatever comments you want in it...you can print them out in your log.
If you are worried about endorsements, or whatever, keep the originals: Scan them and put them in your elog...again printing it out whenever.
Keep multiple copies in various physcial places, and email your elog file to yourself...so you will have a server backup copy(ies).

I started keeping an electronic logbook along with the paper log several years ago...they parrallel each other. There is just something about paper that I can't kick. I like being able to finger through the pages and reminis. The Elog is great for quick make model and other time totals but I haven't been able to let the paper go.

Your logbook is your diary - it is your word. Recruiters/interviewers simply need to be able to logically read and follow your progression (hence no white-out). Someone may question the pencil, but it really isn't a big deal - - but I must also interject that it depends on the person reading it.
It doesn't sound like anything close to a problem, especially since your flights are logged in ink. Keep in mind that a lot of 'eraser marks' will make someone suspicious of padding.
But bottom line...I wouldn't worry so much.

I think once you are sure of the correctness of your page totals that you ought to replace the pencil with ink entries. Personally, I think it projects a much more professional appearance.
