Question Internal hiring success stories

Has anyone heard of cases such as a baggage handler, flight attendant, dispatcher, etc. who has pilot qualifications that meet hiring minimums who worked for an airline in some other capacity in order to make an abundance of contacts in the company that would ultimately help them get internally-hired for a position as pilot flight crewmember?

A number of former FA's have been hired into the flightdeck at Hawaiian over the years.
Built time at regionals at some point then got cockpit jobs.

That makes sense. I've definitely seen more than 1 former flight attendant in flight training.

I wonder how uncommon it is for someone with 3,000 hours who wants to try to get in the back door somewhere extremely competitive like UPS or FedEx to go mop the floors, at least metaphorically if not literally, but shake some hands on the way in and out of the job.

It was possible in the past to work part-time at UPS (ex. night shift box sorter) while also doing some other flying gig and get hired with minimum experience. I think the interview was guaranteed for employees.

Absolutely.
Had a CFI student who worked as a FBO ramper and he was hired straight out of the fuel truck into a turboprop.
Also know of two JetBlue gate agents who are now in their program.
If anything working at an airport is a great motivator, did it myself for 5 years.

I have flown with a couple FOs at Envoy who were FAs at Envoy first.

I've known a few flight attendants that became pilots, as well as flight engineers, mechanics, and for one operator a driver.

Last year I delivered part time for UPS over the holiday rush. I was told when they opened apps for the USPS contract that I was guarenteed an interview because I have an employee number.
