Need some career advice please.
I'm a 50 year old that's been out of aviation for about 18 years and looking to get back into it.
I've got an ATP, about 5000 hrs TT, and over 1500 hrs as a 727 FO, but no turbine PIC, and no types. I've also got a college degree in professional aviation.
I lost my medical back in 2000, but I was recently able to get a 1st Class again and should be able to keep it. I'm not current, but I'm doing a bi-annual next week and have a few options to get some flight time afterwards to get proficient.
I'm married, wife has a good job, no kids and own a home in south Louisiana, so moving isn't an option. I'm willing to commute though. I've only got about 14 years left if flying for an air carrier, so I'd like to maximize my earning potential also.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do. Thanks in advance.

1. Move from south Louisiana
2. Any regional would take you as would most ULCC after a short stint in a regional. That would give you thirteen years at an ULCC, probably enough to retire as a Captain at any of them. Or go to a regional where you can get an upgrade quick and get 1000 TPIC. That MAY get you to a top tier legacy in time to retire as a senior FO.

That sounds about right. Move to some regionals hub and fly your a$$ off. Upgrade after a few years and make $120 until you retire. That’s about it.

Get recurrent flying for a regional that you can stand commuting to.
Put apps out to all of the majors.
Upgrade at your regional, start getting PIC time.
Keep updating your applications.
Go to the first one that gives you a job offer, and enjoy a decade working at a major.
