Street hire on the other hand is expected to have minimums. That being said some places will interview in advance of reaching minimum req’s

Yes, but it depends on the regional. Expressjet was interviewing people as long as they had a private & instrument in 2015. They gave applicants a cjo that pretty much said “you have a job, call us when you have 1500 hours & multi commercial/instrument and we’ll put you in a class.”

I phone interviewed without my multi. I literally had the multi check ride scheduled for like a week later. My recruiter kind of laughed and said “I’ll just go ahead and say you have it, because you’ll pass.”
That’s the only experience I have. That being said, let me play devil’s advocate. What about people who interview without the hour requirement met? The hours are a requirement too. They get CJOs for when they get their hours. Why would it be any different for the ME? I’d say you definitely have to have it to report to class.... but for interviewing, I’m not so sure. Depends on the regional and your circumstances.

Hey, if you can get them to schedule an interview for you, you can DEFINITELY interview without a multi engine rating.
Of course, if it PO’s them because YOU DIDN’T TELL THEM AHEAD OF TIME that you don’t have the ME rating, you not only aren’t going to get the CJO but you may not even get another interview.
So unless you are just doing a practice interview for an employer you never want to work for anyway, make sure to communicate the deficiency ahead of time. Don’t surprise them with it at the interview.
