Helo Night towards ATP? (How much may count)
Searched the Posts and Threads and did not find resolution.
So here’s the short of it: How much Helo night unaided time may be counted towards the Airplane ATP night requirements of 100 hours?
I have taken into consideration adding an extra 25 hours for airplane night landings to a full stop, and added that to my sparse airplane night total and it is still quite a ways under 100. However, if I am able to use my Helo night unaided time I would easily make the requirement.
Looking at the FAR I gather it needs to be in Category but not certain about that as the Helo ATP, for example, only requires 15 of the 100 to be in Helicopter.
Thank you for the advice in advance.

61.159 (a)(2) says you need 100 hours of night time. 61.159 (a)(5)(ii) says you need 25 hours of night PIC in an airplane. Therefore 75 hours of night time in anything else would bring you up to 100 hours.

I don’t know why you’d ever use them during daylight but for the FAA night time is defined by twilight.
We operated into an airport that said ‘no night operations.’ Company said ‘do not land after sunset.’ “After sunset” isn’t always night time.

When you’re flying 7-9 miles a minute at 40,000’, towards or away from the sun, maybe at 72N, I wouldn’t sweat getting the time exact. Is it dark? Do I need lights to see stuff in the cockpit? To me that’s night time. If you’re doing local flying it’s easier to get the accurate time.
