How many times have you made this prediction?

Many times. It's exhausting. But that's the breezibois. Full of hope and optimism but low on industry experience. Hope is not a strategy.

The only real question is if Breeze gets bought out (SWA?) before they run out of cash and investors. This thing was started as a buyout target. DN's last adventure in this industry.

The ULCC/LCC business model is dying and allegiant already owns the franchise on flights from nowheresville to nowheresville. Breeze will never outcompete allegiant on seat mile cost now that everyone is union there especially with brand new 220s that are starting to look like hangar queens.

I hear from my DAL buddies that the 220 is a nightmare and getting worse too. Something like 30% of Delta's 220 fleet is grounded or about to be? Not sure how a small operator like Breeze could handle that.

That is a concern. We’ve been told that the issues with the A220 and PW are mostly related to the earlier delivered models/engines. But we are getting spare A220s from Egypt. I think it was 8, possibly 12 for the engines and spare parts. First one is already coming this month.

I never thought of that business strategy. Buy brand new airplane with problems, then buy used relatively new airplanes to use as parts birds. It’s genius.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I think leasing the Egyptian planes on a short term basis to address an engine problem that was unknown when the planes were ordered is a relatively creative solution. When I'm looking at online forums I am very leery of opinions offered that are based on hearsay. I think the A220s are probably a pretty good plane that has great numbers. If there are teething issues they are not bad enough to prevent Delta from placing follow on orders. Airbus is egar to establish a solid base and highly motivated to resolve any operational issues the airplane may have.

The 220's are doing just fine for Delta. Delta has however shown themselves over history to be uniquely capable of operating oddball and orphaned aircraft. Think Convair 880, L1011, MD90, 717, L100, MD11 and a complete in-house reengining of the DC8.
Keep in mind Airbus bought the A220 to kill a competitor and insure Boeing did not get the aircraft. It would not surprise me in the least that when aircraft orders slow they end the program completely. It then becomes another orphaned aircraft.

I think Delta is helped by having their own GTF engine shop and massive engineering department too. My buddies tell me that Delta has come up with tons of patches and workarounds for that thing. My buddies at JetBlue are jealous because they haven't cracked the code yet and have a lot of problems Delta has solved with proprietary procedures. I can't imagine the problems a small company like breeze without the engineering or resources Delta has getting through that. And the number of blue parked 220s I see in CHS attests to that.

Lol you do know CHS is a Breeze base right? That's where they park the planes, they're not broken.
