Pilot Gear Guide --- **PLEASE STICKY**
To make life easier on future shoppers, and to prevent an excessive amount of threads regarding gear questions, lets all use this thread to post about pilot gear.
Please take the time to post information about what pilot gear you have chosen and why, if it has lived up to your expectations, how it has held up, and if you would buy it again.
Try to avoid posting baseless opinions on products you have not used, rather post first hand experiences. Doing this will provide more reliable reviews of the products. If we all take the time to post, we will cover just about everything out there.
Popular places to shop:
Stop-Over Store
The Outer Marker
Crew Outfitters
Sporty's Pilot Shop
Scott Leather Company
Coyote Works
Landerwood Pilot Shirts

What I fly: CRJ-200
My Stuff:
Rollaboard: Purdy Neat (Luggage Works) Stop-Over Stealth 22"
Luggage Works by far have the best reputation for rollaboards in the business. So far I can say that my bag has lived up to all of my expectations. As a commuter, I truly need a bag that can get abused in every sense of the word, and this one can. In hindsight, I would purchase the 26" version, because it will fit into the CRJ overhead with a little effort. My 22" just barely holds a 4 day's worth of stuff. All in all, I am more than happy with this product. They ARE worth the money invested.
Flight Kit: Purdy Neat (Luggage Works) Split Grain Leather Flight Case
The size of this bag is perfect for the CRJ. It is taller than most bags, which allows me to stack lots of items on top of all of my binders. I have managed to pack four 2" binders, two 1" binders, a jepp. chart wallet packed to the max, my telex headset, and two glasses cases into the thing.
This is NOT the most durable and well made bag out there. In comparison to some of the more pricey ones, this one is a bit flimsy. After seeing some older ones, I can verify that this model will not wear out gracefully like a higher priced Scott bag. For the price and my current salary, I would buy it again. I will be in the market for a Scott or Coyote Works in a few years though.
Headset: Telex 850 ANR
For the CRJ, this might just be the perfect headset. It is very light and comfortable. It provides just enough hearing protection for the plane. The main disadvantage is it's price. I would definitely buy this product again. IMHO, this headset is not quiet enough for the EMB regional jets.
Binders:
2 Jepp 2" Bound Leather Binders
1 Jepp 1" Superior Plastic Binder
1 Scott 1" Leather Binder
Everyone knows the 2" jepp leather binders are quality binders. The 1" superior plastic is also well made, but it is much thicker than the leather version. I use it for my chart notams and union contract. The scott binder is my trip binder, and it is very well made. The only one I bought was the scott, and I would buy it again over the jepp leather.
Uniform:
Landerwood - Way more expensive than most, but is a higher quality and allows for machine washing instead of dry cleaning.
Zipper Tie - The best damn invention ever.

Zipper Tie looks just fine and is FANTASTIC! Also ditto on the Landerwood shirts - you can get the "athletic" cut which tapers nicely and prevents that bush around your waste...plus the cotton is softer and overall looks more professional than any other Pilot shirt. Machine-washable is a super-bonus.
Headset: Sennheiser HMEC-25KAS. LOVE it. Works great even in the ERJ, though a bit uncomfortable cruising 10K feet and 320 KIAS still...but those legs are few and far between in the Jet.
Bags: TravelPro CREW5 - don't think they make it anymore, but I LOVE it. Only thing is I had to swap out the cheapo plastic wheels with inline skate wheels (took three hours labor and involved metal washers, duct tape, and an awl - don't ask LoL) Now it's whisper quiet. For the flight-kit, I use the Ballistic Nylon...Love it to death, but you can't cover it with stickers (major downside) Maybe Patches instead?!
Shoes: Johnston and Murphy. Expensive as heck, but they shine like nobody's business. No lie, every trip my crew comments on how shiny they are...(usually jerking my chain for actually polishing them once in awhile ::gasp::)

Shoes: I have bought the most expensive and some of the cheapest, but there is a slip on pair at burlington coat factory that are like $40 and have no metal, very comfortable and will never set off a metal detector AND if you have to take them off they come off easy. They are more modern, somewhat of a square toe, but look really good.
