For aviation applications, H2 is a lot of squeeze, with limited juice.

Yep, heavy tanks for any useful density and a myriad of issues. A non-starter.

Maybe they should have been multi-versal?

I really though they had a shot. Early hydrogen applications were blazingly succssful.

The Hindenburg did a roaring trade with oceanic work. Just a little trouble at the end, there.

Might work for trains or even trucks, where volume isn't as critical. Especially trains, a few more cars don't matter much.
