AMES + Tailwheel
I haven't been presented with this predicament... yet...
A few years back I got my Comm. AMES in a Widgeon, it's got a tailwheel. I'm interested in getting my ATP add-on (if I can get some spare change!) I don't have my tailwheel endorsement, so the way I look at it, I could spend 20 hours (exaggerated) on the lake with the instructor doing splash-and-gos and not be able to log any PIC... Since the Widgeon is a tailwheel and I haven't got that endorsement.
Am I right?
Obviously the easiest answer would be to get my tailwheel before I go down there. I can't get it in the Widgeon... The owner won't do it bc he doesn't have right-side brakes.

A) knock out the tailwheel endorsement in something. It's a lot of fun and is a great refresher on stick and rudder skills.
B) You can log all the PIC you want, you have the appropriate category and class, tailwheel endorsement is no different from HP or complex, you can log, you just can't act. Provided the "acting" PIC, in this case the instructor, is tailwheel and AMES certificated and current, you can log all the PIC you are actually flying.

Yeah, that does make sense. Thanks.
I've been looking to get my tailwheel for a while, always seemed like a good time. I did an aerobatics course back in college in a Citabria, but the focus was on aerobatics... Not tailwheel proficiency. But man have prices gone up... It looks like the tailwheel ENDORSEMENT is going to cost more than my single engine sea RATING did!
